We call it doc hosting.  We hope you call it awesome.

The BombBomb video email marketing platform now allows you to:

  • Upload documents into your account up to 25MB in size
  • Attach any or all of those documents to emails you send out
  • Track opens and downloads of those documents by your email recipients

Documents currently supported include:

  • Adobe PDF files – pdf
  • Zipped files – zip
  • Sound files – mp3
  • Word – doc and docx
  • Excel – xls and xlsx
  • Powerpoint – ppt and pptx

Why this feature is especially good:

  • It’s included free with your BombBomb video email account
  • We host these documents on our server, assigned only to your account, as long as you want them available
  • Other email providers hit you with extra charges related to doc hosting and sharing
  • Other email providers have greater limitations on file types
  • Other email providers have greater limitations on file size

Where to upload and attach documents inside BombBomb:

  • Look for the document with the green arrow on it in the “Edit your email”
    screenshot of doc host button
  • This will pop up a window that allows you to choose from documents already uploaded into your account or to upload new documents into your account

  • Track opens and downloads in the tracking view of any email to which you’ve attached an uploaded document

So, there it is!  Document hosting, document sharing, and document tracking.  Learn more in the BombBomb Knowledge base story “Document Hosting and Email Attachments”.

Are you serious? This is awesome! Every week I send out information to my referral partners in a pdf. I have been separately uploading my pdf to another hosting source and then linking to that. Thanks for thinking of me without thinking of me!

So pleased you’re pleased, Pete! This was built based on customer requests. Let us know what we can do to make our software better for you – and we’ll try to get it done!

  3. Doesn’t attaching a document to an email get flagged more often as spam? or does bombbomb embed a link to down load the file?

Is there a way to require the email recipient to give name, email, phone etc… to gain access to the file?

    • Ethan Beute says:

Great question, Brad. Yes – adding it as an attachment is a potential problem for deliverability. It also reduced the ability to track who viewed your document.

When you upload a document into your BombBomb account, you embed a link into your email. It then becomes a trackable event, so after your send to a list of your contacts, you can see which individuals opened the email, clicked on any links (and which ones), accessed your documents, and/or watched your video.

In a sales situation, this is a great way to prioritize your lead follow-up. Those most engaged with the various aspects of your email – including reading doc-hosted sales proposal or offer – are the best leads with which to start.

Thanks for reading – and for commenting! Happy New Year to you, Brad.

Sorry: to the second part of your question, no – we don’t have protections on the download link. Certainly, though, you should have the name, email address, and other basic contact info for the people on your email lists.
